Lou Dobbs on Illegal Immigration: He rallies against them, but they're working for him

It's been a long time since I last thought, wow, that's some great investigative journalism.  If you know how the American economy works you know that many of the rich not only employ undocumented immigrants to cut their grass, clean their houses and care for their horses, they benefit from their labor in other less direct ways.  We all benefit from undocumented immigration whether we want to admit it or not.  In Lou Dobb's case, he benefits and vilifies at the same time.

Lou Dobbs is no longer sufficiently anti-immigrant

Poor Lou Dobbs. First he loses his job because he unloads on immigrants. Now he's losing friends because he's not anti-immigrant enough.

We live in a strange world.

According to the article linked here, The Americans for Legal Immigration PAC has dropped its support for Dobbs because he no longer sufficiently hates undocumented immigrants.

Apparently, Dobbs is serious about his future bid for a political position, and has quickly shed his more onerous anti-immigrant rhetoric. When he appeared on Telemundo recently, he mention not once, but two times that the 12 million undocumented immigrants currently residing in the U.S. need a path to citizenship.

So what gives? Dobbs is a turncoat? Hypocrite? Aliens have stolen the real Dobbs and left us with a thinking changling?

I think it could be all of the above, and I'm hoping the aliens (and I do see the irony here) keep the "real" Dobbs. But I doubt they'll like each other.

Lou Dobbs 2012? Bring it on

I'm not fan of Lou Dobbs, nor Sarah Palin for that matter, but I do think it would be a great idea to have one or both run for President in 2012.

Why?

It's just about time that the GOP had a day of reckoning with the far right, particularly the religious right, whom they have so long courted and extorted for their votes on election day.

This "news" broke earlier today, with the Fox network gushing: oh please!--do it, but the Examiner posted an op-ed piece decrying Dobbs as an unfit representative, even for a position in the senate. 

My point is this: Dobbs is a divisive character.  His candidacy would likely divide the party, and perhaps do so permanently.    That could be interesting.

This article is satire.  I don't usually post satire here, but when I read this I thought, "that sounds plausible.  Sad, but plausible." 

My feeling is any satire that good desires a second look.  Enjoy.

Anchor Lou Dobbs Leaves CNN

It appears that the months of protesting Lou Dobbs and his inflammatory style have finally paid off--he stepped down last night at the end of his show so that he can "pursue new opportunities."

While this is clearly a victory for the activists who worked to "Dump Dobbs," what role he will play in future media outlets is uncertain. A logical choice would be the Fox network, that has made a reputation trafficking dubious information that is passed off as "news."

For now, those involved in the immigration debate can sit back and know at least for a short while Dobbs will not be gracing the television airwaves.  He will maintain his radio program with CNN radio.

Is someone trying to kill Lou Dobbs?

Apparently, he thinks so.  Dobbs recently reported an incident where his wife was shot at in front of his home.  Dobbs claims that pro-immigrant groups have been after his hide for his vitriolic anti-immigrant rhetoric, which has been linked to hate groups.  That aside, was this a true attempt on  Dobb's life or (more accurately) his wife's life?

NJ State police don't seem to think so.  Apparently, Dobbs lives in an area where hunters frequent, and the troopers tend to think that this was a hunting accident.  If it wasn't, the alleged murderer wasn't a very good shot.  The officer noted that the bullet struck the "'apex of the house, near the roof,' high above a standing person."
